HOW TO OBTAIN A LOCAL TITLE
And today's topic is...
Why would I want a Local Title?
Many women enter pageants for different reasons; it is a personal choice for each woman. Although it is NOT a requirement of the Mrs. America Organization to have a platform to become a contestant, we encourage women to voice their opinions on issues about which they feel passionate. A local “celebrity” can use her title to make a difference in the community.
There are numerous organizations and causes throughout the States of Connecticut and
Rhode Island.
WE HAVE ALREADY MADE A DIFFERENCE…..NOW YOU CAN TOO!!!!!!!
Local titles offer invaluable experience and insight into what it truly means to be a state representative.
Having a local title is an excellent way for you to:
1. Make appearances within your community
2. Support local charities and organizations important to you
3. Learn more about your area and state
4. Experience the lifestyle of a potential Mrs. Rhode Island America or Mrs.
Connecticut America!
5. Once you have met and COMPLETED the requirements to be an official contestant, you may now be eligible for a County/Township/City title.
NOTE: To receive a local title, you must be an official contestant in the Mrs. Connecticut or the Mrs. Rhode Island America Pageants.
APPLY NOW AT:

....AND TODAY'S QUESTION IS:
Do you need to spend $$Thousands on a gown? The answer is CATEGORICALLY NO! In the twenty years Elaine and I have been involved in pageants we have seen that an expensive gown is NOT necessarily, a ticket to the crown. Several years ago, in a national teen pageant, the winner wore a $39.95 gown from K-Mart and won the NATIONAL title!! Granted this may be an exception BUT, in most cases a several hundred dollar gown will suffice. Of course, the "gown people" will beg to differ here but the fact remains: YOU DO NOT have to spend thousands of dollars on a gown to win. You must, however, present whatever you are wearing as professionally and beautifully as you can. The way you 'CARRY" yourself in the gown is the most important factor. The judges have been instructed to vote for the contestant IN the gown and not the gown itself. After all, when you win, the pageant and its gown sponsor will see to it that you are well prepared for nationals without spending you life's savings on wardrobe!! Plus, you will get some pretty nifty pieces to add to your collection, for FREE!
To your success...

Personal Message from Mrs. Rhode Island America
I truly believe in not trying to be the "best", but striving to be your "best self". When you are confident in yourself, and believe in your dreams, anything is possible. When I was crowned Mrs. Rhode Island America 2011, it was nothing short of all my dreams coming true. My life would not be what it is today without my husband, Justin. If two people were ever made for each other, it is Justin and I. He is my dearest friend, and the love of my life. I am so fortunate to have found someone that believes in me and my dreams as much as I do. I believe that life is not a race, but indeed a journey. I could not be more thankful for this journey I am about to embark on. The honor and excitement I feel to be the woman chosen to represent Rhode Island at the Mrs. America Pageant is indescribable. Never underestimate the power of a dream! www.mrsriamerica.com
Personal Message from Mrs. Connecticut America
“Is that really MY name they just called to be the new Mrs. Connecticut – did I just win?!” was all I could think of as I was being crowned in a whirl wind of events. While my family and friends rushed to the stage I tried to soak in every feeling and emotion of that precious moment. I do realize that I could not have gotten to that momentous night without the help and encouragement of those loved ones. Especially my handsome “gentle giant” husband Christopher, who has been my best friend since our earliest moments together. His continued support in all of my endeavors has never wavered and I thank him dearly. We have also been blessed with a beautiful two year old baby boy, Taylor Robert, who makes my heart bigger every time I see him!
You are only as strong as your weakest link so I feel if you nourish every part of who you are, whether it be family, friends, or career, you will always be growing into a stronger and more confident woman. I can only hope to be the best Mrs. Connecticut I can be and to live up the expectations that this wonderful title holds. I am truly grateful and honored for this opportunity and promise to make a positive impact on our great state of Connecticut in 2011.. www.mrsctamerica.com

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS -- The Greenbrier is known for it's beauty, so what better way to celebrate it than a visit from Mrs. America?Shelley Carbone, the current Mrs. America, stopped by America's Resort for the upcoming Mrs. America Pageant that will be held there March 31 to April 14.It's the first time the event will be held on the East Coast, and Shelley Carbone said she's so excited to have it at the Greenbrier.
"This is the first time I've been to West Virginia, this is the first time I've been to the Greenbrier," said Carbone, "and I am just in awe at its beauty, it's grand, it's glamorous, it really is awe-inspiring."Carbone is originally from Connecticut and is a registered nurse and mother of four. She said giving up her crown will be bitter-sweet, but she said she's already working on the next phase of her life.
